What are Drive from Wheelchair (DFW) Vehicles?

Drive From Wheelchair (DFW) vehicles let you remain in your wheelchair while driving, offering maximum freedom and independence. These larger, specially adapted vehicles are custom-built to your needs. Although they typically cost more and take longer to produce than passenger Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs), the result is a truly empowering driving experience.

How are they Different from WAVs?

DFWs are bespoke, highly adapted vehicles designed to let you drive while remaining in your wheelchair. They include far more custom features than a standard Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), offering a tailored driving experience built entirely around your needs.

Because of their advanced engineering and specialist adaptations, DFWs are typically more expensive than standard cars or passenger WAVs and may take longer to build. They’re also larger than most other WAVs, providing the space required for accessibility and comfort.

A small selection of pre-adapted Nearly New DFWs is sometimes available at a lower cost, but most new models require a higher Advance Payment.

Please note that your Advance Payment doesn’t include additional adaptations. If you need extra features or custom adjustments, it’s important to factor these costs in before placing your order.
